DKMS UK welcomes new Managing Director

DKMS UK is excited to welcome Emma McCargow to our team.

Emma has taken up the role of Managing Director at DKMS UK, with a commitment to ensuring that every patient who needs a potentially lifesaving stem cell transplant has an equal chance of finding a compatible donor, regardless of their background or ethnicity.

Emma leads our medical teams, and will share responsibility for our UK operations alongside co-Managing Director, Peter McCleave.

Emma brings over two decades of experience in health research and life sciences, spanning pharmaceutical clinical trials, genomics and patient-facing programmes. Most recently she held a senior leadership role at a national genomics organisation, where she led complex cross-functional programmes aimed at improving diagnostic and research outcomes, including for patients from underrepresented communities”

“I’ve spent my career working to improve outcomes for patients, but I’ve never been this close to the outcome before,” she says. “When a match is made, the impact is immediate, and that’s a big part of what drew me to DKMS.”

Human biology has been a passion of Emma’s since she was school, and she describes stem cell transplantation as one of the most extraordinary capabilities in modern medicine. Having lost both her parents at a young age to cancer, she brings a deeply personal as well as professional commitment to DKMS’s mission.

We are delighted to welcome her to the DKMS UK team!
